Cocos nucifera, commonly known as the coconut tree , was first domesticated by the people in the islands of Southeast Asia. The wide usage of the coconut in food, beverages, cosmetics and building materials and various other uses drives rapid growth in the global coconut market.
For consumers and buyers seeking sustainably sourced coconut, we have developed a traceable single source supply chain. By combining supply chain mapping with understanding of the growing regions, we work collectively with all stakeholders to improve small holder livelihoods and incomes, productivity, and reducing deforestation and encroachment.
Oil from the fruit of Cocos nucifera grown and milled locally, in Papua New Guinea where over 400,000 households are involved in coconut farming in the country. The oil is then refined in a modern refinery certified under a GFSI recognized food safety management system, producing a superior coconut oil and also supporting sustainability.
The primary fatty acid is lauric acid (C12:0 ) 45-52%, followed by myristic acid (C14:0) approximately 15-21%, with 5-10% each of caprylic acid (C8:0) and capric acid (C10:0).
Coconut oil that has undergone physical fractionation using cold water and physical filtration to extract the liquid fraction. The liquid fraction concentrates medium chain triglycerides (MCT), specifically increasing C8 (capric acid) and C10 (caprylic acid) to over 30% each. The oil is also free flowing at room temperatures,.
Medium chain triglycerides are defined as triglycerides primarily composed of caprylic acid (C8:0) and capric acid (C10:0).
